Eversheds comment: Tight online and network security vital to prevent IP theft
- United Kingdom
25-11-2013
Following a warning that intellectual property theft is a greater cybersecurity threat than cyber war and attacks from hackers, Simon Crossley, head of intellectual property at global law firm Eversheds, comments:
“It’s no coincidence that trade secret theft has increased as businesses increasingly store confidential information and trade secrets on networked systems. No security system can provide absolute protection, so businesses need to think carefully about how core technology and secrets are stored and accessed. Just as a lock on a safe can be picked, it’s clear that online security systems will be subject to attack from hackers looking for valuable information.”
