Public-Private Partnerships in Emerging Markets
The 2nd Annual PPPs in Emerging Markets conference, organized by KW Group, will be held on 18–19 June 2012 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The conference is targeted to the public sector (representatives of governments and ministries) and the private sector (contractors interested in PPP projects, and consultancies).
During the networking session, participants will share their experiences in carrying out various types of projects in emerging markets, including:
- barriers to carrying out projects using the PPP model
- factors contributing to the success or failure of a project
- financing issues.
The second day of the conference will be devoted to a discussion of PPP projects in specific sectors:
- healthcare—construction of hospitals and healthcare centres
- water—construction of hydroelectric plants and wastewater treatment facilities
- power—construction of power plants geared to renewables
- transport—construction of railway stations and bus stations.
The Polish experience and PPP projects in Poland will be presented by Tomasz Korczyński, an attorney at Wierzbowski Eversheds who specializes in public-private partnerships.
During his presentation, entitled “Law and Practice: Initial Experiences in Carrying Out PPP Projects in Poland,” he will discuss:
- experiences in carrying out projects using the PPP model
- the legal foundations for functioning of PPP
- the Polish market for PPP projects.
