Dr. Nicolas Maehner is one of our experts for Corporate Real Estate and Retail. As a Counsel he is a member of our Real Estate Practice Group in our Munich office.

He advises international retailers and fashion brands on commercial landlord and tenant law on their market entry in Germany and their expansion.

In addition, Dr. Maehner represents national and international logistics service providers, project developers and investors on all aspects of real estate transaction and tenancy law. One focus of his practice is on the asset class logistics real estate.

Prior to joining Eversheds Sutherland in 2016, Dr. Maehner had worked for Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe in the area of corporate and real estate law. He studied law and received his doctorate as Doctor iuris at the University of Passau. He took his second state examination in Munich.

Nicolas' recent experience includes advising: 

  • American and British retail chains with respect to their German market entry and the leasing of several retail areas
  • A major German bank with respect to the financing of a wind park project in France
  • A real estate investor with respect to a joint venture for the restructuring of an industrial park in Munich to a residential area
  • A real estate investor regarding the sale of several specialist stores as well as the winding-up and liquidation of the respective holding companies
  • A fund with respect to the acquisition of a portfolio comprising 30 commercial properties
  • A worldwide leading supplier and service provider for airlines with respect to the expansion to Germany and the opening of branches at German hub airports
