Practice notes
James is a Senior Associate in our Construction and Engineering Group, specialising in transactional work. He leads on the construction aspects of development finance deals, and has experience working on major infrastructure projects.
James particularly advises on development finance-related documentation and risk, but has a broad range of experience across various construction-related matters. He advises on standalone development issues, such as the negotiation and drafting of construction and related contract documentation, to include industry standard forms, across a range of stakeholder perspectives. He advises major lenders on the construction aspects and related risks of such projects, as well as international and domestic, private and public sector entities on e.g. large-scale development, energy, transport and infrastructure projects generally.
James's current projects include advising clients in relation to London-based: £260m new-build mixed-use scheme; £123m over-site Crossrail station; and £60m new-build office space developments, as well as a £95m shopping centre redevelopment in Nottingham and a governmental contract review as to the potential impact of a no-deal Brexit.
James's previous experience includes construction disputes work (adjudication, arbitration, expert determination, mediation and litigation), as well an eighteen month part-time secondment in-house with the Natural England Legal team, which included advising on large-scale renewable energy projects, large-scale infrastructure projects, judicial reviews, and environmental site designations.
