Anum is a principal associate in the corporate and commercial practice in the Riyadh office.
Anum focuses on all aspects of competition law, TMT and commercial arrangements, and he advises on franchising, distribution arrangements, renewable energy projects and mergers and acquisitions.
Anum was partially seconded to one of the biggest rail companies of the world for the ‘Haramain high-speed rail project’, a 453-kilometres-long high-speed inter-city rail transport system under construction in Saudi Arabia. During the delivery of this strategically important project, Anum advised on construction and engineering disputes under Saudi law, and has been involved in the settlement of numerous complex disputes and contract negotiation under a wide range of standard forms and bespoke contracts including FIDIC form.
Anum is an accredited mediator of the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR), UK, and he participated as an expert to the first IFC-CEDR Curriculum Development Workshop in Lahore in 2013. Anum has furthermore been appointed as national consultant to the International Trade Centre (ITC), Geneva, on three separate occasions and jointly authored a report published by the ITC.
Previously, Anum was the managing partner in a law firm in Lahore where he advised on corporate matters and actively litigated before the provincial and appeal courts. Anum has more than 17 years of experience both as in-house counsel and in private practice.
Anum furthermore taught business law for eight years at Lahore University of Management Sciences, regularly publishes on legal issues and has spoken at various panel discussions. His comments have appeared in publications such as Wall Street Journal, The Lawyer and The National.
Anum obtained his LLM from University of Toronto and his LLB from Pakistan College of Law.
Anum is fluent in Urdu and English.
